Terms of Service

Swift Search is free. You do not need an account to use it. These terms explain what you can expect from us and what we ask of you — in plain language, because terms nobody reads protect nobody.
01Who these terms are between
These terms are an agreement between you and Sinope, based in the United Kingdom, which publishes the Swift Search browser extension. "We" and "us" mean Sinope; "you" means you. By installing or using Swift Search you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, uninstall the extension.
02What Swift Search is
Swift Search is a Chrome extension that lets you act on text you have highlighted on a webpage — search it across websites you have chosen, define it, translate it, summarize it, save it, highlight it, or ask a question about it.
It is a tool that sits on top of other people’s websites and third-party services. It does not provide the search results, the definitions, the translations or the AI answers itself; it takes you to them, or passes your request along to them.
03It is free, and it may not always be
Swift Search is currently free to use, including the AI features, subject to a monthly credit allowance. We may in future introduce a paid tier. If we do, the features you have today will not be taken away from you and put behind a payment without notice — but we make no promise that the free allowance will stay at its current level, since it is funded out of our own pocket and scales with how many people use it.
We may change, suspend or discontinue any part of Swift Search, including the AI features and the backend service they depend on, at any time.
04Accounts
You need an account only for the AI features, because those run on a server and the allowance has to be counted against someone. You can sign in with Google or with an email address and password.
You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure, and for activity that happens under your account. Tell us at swiftsearch@outlook.com if you believe someone else is using it.
You can delete your account at any time from within the extension — Settings, then Membership, then Delete account. That removes your account record from our database permanently.
05AI features, credits, and what they are worth
AI actions consume credits from a monthly allowance. Different models cost different amounts per action, and the extension shows you the current cost and your remaining balance. Credits have no cash value, cannot be bought, sold, transferred or refunded, and expire when the monthly allowance resets.
We may change the size of the allowance, the cost of an action, or which models are available. We may apply reasonable limits to prevent abuse.
AI output is not advice, and it is not always right. Summaries, definitions and answers are generated by third-party AI models and can be incomplete, misleading or simply wrong. Do not rely on them for anything medical, legal, financial or otherwise consequential without checking the source yourself. Swift Search shows you where a passage came from precisely so that you can.
06Acceptable use
Use Swift Search for its intended purpose. Do not:
- Use it to break the law, or to infringe anyone’s rights
- Attempt to bypass, script, automate or otherwise game the credit allowance, or create multiple accounts for that purpose
- Attack, overload, probe or attempt to gain unauthorised access to our backend service
- Use the AI features to generate material that is unlawful, that harasses or endangers someone, or that breaches the terms of the AI providers we pass requests to
- Resell or redistribute Swift Search, or present it as your own product
We may suspend or terminate access to the AI features, or to an account, where we reasonably believe this section has been breached.
07Third-party websites and services
Swift Search searches websites you choose and passes AI requests to Google (Gemini), xAI (Grok) and Z.ai (GLM). Those services have their own terms and privacy policies, and we do not control them, their availability, or what they return. Your use of them through Swift Search is at your own risk.
Swift Search is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any of the websites it can search. All trademarks are the property of their respective owners.
08Your content
Text you highlight, passages you save, highlights you make and notes you write remain yours. We claim no ownership of them. Most of it never leaves your device at all — see the Privacy Policy for exactly what does.
You grant us only the permission technically necessary to provide the feature you asked for: when you run an AI action, permission to transmit that text to the AI provider you selected and return the answer to you. Nothing more, and nothing that survives the request.
09Our intellectual property
Swift Search, its name, its logo and its code belong to Sinope. These terms do not give you any right to them beyond using the extension as published. Fonts and libraries bundled with the extension are licensed from their authors and remain theirs.
10No warranty
Swift Search is provided "as is" and "as available". We do not warrant that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or compatible with every website — it operates on pages we do not control, and those pages change. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we exclude all implied warranties.
11Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, loss of data, loss of profit, or loss arising from your reliance on AI output or on any third-party website reached through Swift Search.
Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited or excluded. If you are a consumer, you keep all the statutory rights the law gives you, and nothing here affects them.
12Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The updated version will be published at this address and the "Last updated" date revised. Where a change is significant we will say so in the extension’s release notes rather than relying on you to re-read this page. Continuing to use Swift Search after a change means you accept it; if you do not, uninstall the extension.
13Ending this agreement
You may stop at any time by uninstalling Swift Search and, if you have one, deleting your account. We may suspend or end your access to the AI features if you breach section 6, or if we discontinue the service. Sections 8 to 11 survive the end of this agreement.
14Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction. If you are a consumer resident elsewhere in the UK or in the EU, you keep the protection of the mandatory consumer laws of the country you live in, and may bring proceedings there.
